Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Gary Beyer is the owner of NextGen Dental & Orthodontics and has been providing excellent dental care to his patients for over 24 years. Dr. Beyer practices general dentistry and specializes in full mouth reconstruction and cosmetic dentistry.

Dr. Beyer earned his Bachelor of Science degree and his Doctorate in Dentistry degree from St. Petersburg School of Stomatology in 1986. His Doctor of Dental Surgery degree was earned at Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1993 and he has been working as a dentist ever since. He is a proud member of the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, the Chicago Dental Society, and is Invisalign Certified.

Dr. Robert Weber is now an Elite Invisalign provider! He has been a practicing orthodontist most of his life and truly loves what he does. Dr. Weber’s greatest joy is watching patients move on with their lives, going off to college and pursuing their dreams while smiling brightly. A lot of his former patients bring their kids back to see Dr. Weber. Several of them have admitted that because of their experience and happy memories, they chose to go into dentistry and study orthodontics.

Dr. Weber was born and raised in the greater Chicago area. He went to LaSalle-Peru High School where he played football and was a member of the marching band. He then attended Illinois State University for his undergraduate degree. Upon graduation he worked at Hines VA Hospital and served in the Army Reserves. During that time, he also attended Baylor University and studied to become a medical lab technologist. Soon after his return to Chicago, Dr. Weber continued his education by enrolling at Loyola University Dental School. He completed his orthodontic residency at Northwestern University School of Dentistry and graduated from Northwestern School of Orthodontics in 1981. Dr. Weber is a strong believer in continuous education and constantly attends the latest orthodontic courses and seminars to ensure his patients will receive the best and most innovative treatments.

Dr. Caroline Jermanus is a board certified periodontist. She grew up in Florida and attended Nova Southeastern University for her dental training. She went on to finish specialty training in the periodontics and dental implants at the University of Florida, where she received a certificate in periodontics and dental implants in addition to a master’s degree in Oral Biology.

Dr. Jermanus is proficiently trained in all aspects of periodontics including non-surgical and surgical treatment of periodontal diseases, periodontal bone regeneration and periodontal soft tissue grafting. She also has extensive training in the surgical placement of dental implants, hard tissue grafting, including sinus augmentation and soft tissue grafting to enhance aesthetics of dental implants. She is a member of many dental and periodontal organizations.

Dr. Alexander Portnoy is a versatile general dentist. Dr. Portnoy's skill set extends across various specialties, including endodontics, oral surgery, implantology, and prosthodontics. Fluent in English, Russian, and Spanish, Dr. Portnoy strives to provide exceptional care to a diverse patient base.

Born in San Francisco, CA, he later moved to Miami, FL where he pursued his undergraduate degree at Nova Southeastern University. During his third year of dental school at Midwestern University located in Downer's Grove, IL, he began assisting Dr. Beyer at NextGen Dental, solidifying his dedication to delivering outstanding dental care. Dr. Portnoy is actively integrating new technology into the practice to help improve efficiency and clinical outcomes.
